Standing under the Eiffel Tower on a misty morning is an otherworldly feeling. There is something futuristic about the tower, even 130 years after it was constructed. Meant to be a temporary installation for the 1889 World Fair, the Eiffel Tower was never removed because an antenna was built at the top of the tower to conduct wireless signals. The Eiffel Tower is still used today to beam radio and TV broadcasts around the world. Since its construction, the Eiffel Tower has been repainted 18 times. Painting is only completed with traditional methods and no mechanical painting is allowed.
