Fainting is an impressionist series of photographs created through multiple exposures layered in-camera. Each photograph was then converted to black and white with digital painting and contrast applied to accentuate the organic shapes. The original subject matter was fall leaves in the full light of a setting sun. While capturing these images, I fainted for the first time in my life.
Excerpt from The Flask by Charles Baudelaire:
A memory that brings languor flutters here:
The fainting eyelids droop, and giddy Fear
Thrusts with both hands the soul towards the pit
Where, like a Lazarus from his winding-sheet,
Arises from the gulf of sleep a ghost
Of an old passion, long since loved and lost.
The Fainting series, along with many other photographs, are available as fine art prints from Nathan Larson Photography. Each image below links to a page offering unsigned prints. Contact Nathan Larson Photography for signed and limited edition series.
