Now

If you are going to break me, break me now,
split me sharp as river stone under the weight of time,
let the crack be clean, let the wound wail.

If you are going to ravage me, ravage me now,
leave no path untraveled, no road unexplored,
let your ruin be reckless, a shelterless storm.

If you are going to love me, love me now,
with the full force of your soul,
sweet mercy in motion, affection unwavering.

For tomorrow is a luxury we try to borrow,
yesterday a ghost we cannot grasp.
There is only this unforgiving moment,
the fierce, fleeting, beautiful now.
