I spent the better part of a year chasing and observing butterflies up close. From a distance, they’re delicate flashes of movement, but up close, their wings reveal an intricate world of color and pattern.

The fine scales that coat each wing catch the light, shifting in hue depending on the angle. Some look like stained glass, others like velvet, and some shimmer with an almost metallic glow.

No two butterflies are quite the same. Their wings can mimic leaves, bark, or even the eyes of a predator, blending survival with beauty. The diversity is staggering—bold blues of a morpho, the fiery orange of a monarch, the hidden iridescence of species that only reveal their full color in motion.
